Hello everyone!

Im sure everyone has heard of the Ghost effect. I know it involves candy or a transparent color and a few coats of base color and somewhere is the actual airbrushing but wasn't sure the steps. I basically want to spray skulls and a few flames running threw them. I wanted them white and the main color being green.

Working with Createx Illustration Paint

As you know I have been learning how to use Createx Illustration Paint and wanted to give an update. I have found this paint to be a plus to my arsenal at this point. It is a vary finicky paint, but when it is used properly you can do some awesome work.

I have found that if you use it according to the buffing method the paint work as intended. You need to mix in the whites and blacks to keep the paint flowing properly. I have had issues with spitting little blobs of paint on occasion. Today I found that with mixing the flesh tone and adding the white in a mixing cup and then placing two drops of W500 in my cup and then adding 6 drops of my custom buffed color the paint flowed perfectly. Once I went back to straight color and W500 the paint spit again. Once I went back to the buffed color and W500 it was okay again. Like I said finicky. I love the way it is erasing with soft and hard erasing techniques. I just can't let myself get lazy.

I was using it with my Micron SB at 5 psi and constantly checking the needle tip for dried paint. I believe I am adapting to this new paint after two weeks of trial and error. I will be posting the picture of Penny when it is complete and actually this time it is even more accurate than the first two attempts.

Thanks for bearing with me on this one.

Fred

Thanks to the fine folks on this forum I learned a lot this week. Thanks Fern for patiently walking me through paints, reducers and thinners! I have been using this skull to practice on until I get all my airbrush and paint issues ironed out. I know it sucks and I can see every mistake in it but I wanted to share my efforts with you. After my brain surgery airbrushing has been the cheapest and most fun therapy I could ever find. Now I need to get out and buy some beeswax for that darn air leak and some reducer.<img src="http://www.theairbrushforum.com/attachments/works-progress/17348d1369412570t-lessons-i-have-learned-week-vampire-save.jpg" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.

Hello all, I just registered to the forum because I want to start airbrushing.

Basically, I play warhammer40k and I want to start using an airbrush to paint my miniatures. Both to speed things up and to achieve better result.

So I am looking for my first airbrush and I did some research on the different ones but also on which one I can afford and can get without to much difficulties. Here in Quebec, airbrush are not really available everywhere.

So basically, my 2 choices are between the Badger Patriot 105 and the Badger Renegade Velocity.

Now, I know that the Patriot is more a general use brush and the Velocity is more a fine details brush. Thing is, I don't know what fine details means.

If I want to do details on a warhammer 40k miniature (28mm) does this qualifies as a fine details works. And If I use the brush to base coat the model completely, Is this to large for a fine detail brush like the velocity? What about base coating a tank?

Basically, I know I will begin by only using the airbrush to base coat, but I also know that later on, I will want to try to do details with it on my wh40k miniature. And I want to use it also on the tank, again as basecoat and details).

So, will the Patriot do this fine details work or I should get the renegade right from the start?

Hi,

I'm playing around with several erasing techniques, but i'm struggling to get it right.

I've tested erasing with hard and soft pencil erasers , a normal eraser(half red, half blue) and an electric eraser.

I've tested it on schoellehammer 4g board and sprayed it from very light layers to a bit thicker with different paints, but it's hardly erasable whatever I try.

I used golden, trident, createx illustration and etac efx.
I've tried mixing it with water and the brand's reducers or combinations.

Etac can only be erased when it's the second layer, first layer erases very hard.
The best result i get by using illustration, but i'm far from pleased with this result.

When i look at videos, for example portaits made by froschin then he's erasing which such ease, the paint flies off the paper by just loooking at it it seems.

What am i doing wrong? Do i first have to prep the board or paper with some sort of varnish first or are there other tricks i'm not aware of?
How are other forum members doing this?

Thanks for your help!
Gr, Remco

Hi Everyone.
I paint xbox 360 and ps3 consoles cases by rattle can, but i want to step it up
I am confused on going with an hvlp setup or air brush setup
Is hvlp overkill for what i do?
Can you recommend an air brush set up if it would work?
Budget is $300

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated
